How does it work?

The Austin Air HealthMate Plus® specializes in the reduction of harmful chemicals, noxious gases, VOCs, formaldehyde and sub-micron particles for individuals in the most contaminated settings. Austin Air’s 360-degree intake system draws air into all sides of the HealthMate Plus®, passing it through a unique 4-stage filter. 

The filter has a true medical grade HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Arresting) filter surrounded by a blend of potassium iodide-impregnated carbon that is mixed with zeolite. The potassium iodide additive helps to deliver greater filtration of chemicals and gases, including Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). The HEPA filters 99.97% of all particles down to 0.3 microns in size. Consequently, this combination of filter media provides improved relief in highly contaminated air spaces for those who are severely sensitive to chemicals. 

How long does the filter last?

Because it utilizes 60 sq. ft. of medical grade HEPA and up to 15 lbs of activated carbon and zeolite, the Austin Air HealthMate Plus filter is designed to last up to five years under normal residential conditions.

  • STAGE 1 – Large Particle Pre-filter. Removes particles easily seen by the naked eye (e.g. dust, hair and pet dander)
  • STAGE 2 – Medium Particle Pre-filter. Removes small to medium size particles (e.g. molds, spores and pollen)
  • STAGE 3 – Over 780 cubic inches of Activated Carbon, Potassium Iodide Impregnated Carbon and Zeolite. Removes Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, benzenes, chemicals, gases and odors.

What is the difference between the HealthMate and the HealthMate Plus?

Both the Austin Air HealthMate and HealthMate Plus use a combination of activated carbon, zeolite, and medical grade HEPA in their filters. However, the HealthMate Plus uses an activated carbon that is impregnated with potassium iodide, which is designed for better adsorption of specific chemicals such as formaldehyde.  Therefore, the HealthMate Plus may be a better option for those exposed to wildfire smoke or chemical disasters.

Great Investment

Never thought of an air purifier until we got our cockatiel. Went to a bird store to ask questions about our new bird, and the owner was very encouraging about this brand of purifier. It has certainly helped to keep the bird dander from flying around our house.

So far so good 🤞

I live in Bend, OR with my family which includes two little kids. The wildfires have become a consistent issue starting end of July-Sept. I wanted to buy something that was extremely effective and reliable. We had blue air purifiers in our rooms but I wanted something more heavy duty. After doing research I learned about Austin Air. I really like that it’s US made as well, filters don’t need replacing for a few years and great warranty. It also looks really great in our main room. Only con is that it is quite heavy, the wheels are amazing but we do have three levels in our home and there’s no way I could carry it up flights of stairs so we keep it in the main room for now.

Overall happy with my purchase.

Instant Improvement in Sleeping

Noticed an improvement in sleep quality the first night. The fresher air makes it easier to breathe. I never knew what I was missing until we bought the Healthmate Plus for the bedroom. I do not find the unit noisy, it is similar to the white noise machine so assist with falling asleep.
